There are meetings that children wait for all year round. For many of them, the summer camp in the city of Bucha — is an opportunity to see old friends again, meet new ones and spend several days in a warm and friendly environment.

This summer, the ADRA Kids project helped seven children from Bucha and Hostomel join this summer tradition. The camp, organized by the charity fund «My vdoma» (EN: We are at home), was held from August 13 to 18 and united the children of ex-combatants, children from the families of fallen and missing soldiers, as well as other children affected by the war.

The charity fund «My vdoma» organizing the camp many years, so it has become a good summer tradition for many participants. Children return here for communication, a familiar atmosphere and meetings with friends who have not been seen for a year.

The six days were filled with games, communication, creative workshops and various activities. Here the children could relax, try something new, find friends and just spend time together.

At the same time, the program helped kids better understand their own emotions, cope with fears and insecurities, and feel supported nearby. Psychologist ADRA Ukraine, who held a separate meeting for teenagers, also joined the work of the camp. In a friendly atmosphere, they could chat about what they were worried about and share their experiences.

For teenagers, it is especially important to have an environment where they are heard and accepted, where they can be themselves, find friends and feel the support of adults. This is the place for many participants to go to camp where you want to return next summer.

The ADRA Ukraine team thanks the charity fund «My vdoma» for many years of work with children and teenagers, as well as everyone who supports the ADRA Kids project. Thanks to this support, seven children this summer were able to spend six days among friends, get new experiences and create memories to which you want to return.
