On July 22, the ADRA Kids team held an event in Nizhyn for children affected by the war, including children of ex-combatants and families who were forced to leave their homes due to hostilities.

For the children of Chernihiv region, who live almost every day to the sounds of air alarms, such meetings are much more than leisure. This is an opportunity to feel like just children for at least a few hours: create, play, communicate and forget about constant danger.

It was during the event that an air alert sounded. The participants calmly moved to the shelter where the program continued. After the recoil signal, due to the safety situation, the meeting was transferred to the open air and successfully completed.

ADRA Kids project manager Maryna Piddubna recalls:
«This event once again showed how strong our children and their parents are. When the air raid alarm sounded, everyone calmly went to the shelter, and we just continued the program there. Parents helped organize children, supported each other, and no one allowed fear to spoil this day. After the recoil, we changed the location and completed the program already on the street. It is at such moments that you understand how important it is to give children joy even despite the war».

After returning to the program, the children enthusiastically participated in creative games, interactive activities and contests, and at the end received gifts. While they spent time together, the psychologist organized a separate meeting for her parents.

The ADRA Ukraine team sincerely thanks everyone who supports the ADRA Kids project. Thanks to this support, children who live in war every day receive not only interesting leisure time and gifts, but also a sense of security, care and support.
