On May 26, 2022, the first trip of the social transportation from ADRA Ukraine organized in cooperation with the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund took place in the Shyrokiv community of Zaporizhzhia region.
Today there are 35 settlements and 157 country cooperatives in this community, 27 of which have stopped providing public transport in February this year. In addition to local residents, the community is home to more than 1,500 IDPs who have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the escalation of the war. And the number of these people continues to grow.
“It has become very difficult without transportation,” – said Roza Stepanivna, a resident of Mykolai-Pole village. – I’m 70 years old, I need to go to the doctor regularly, and to the pharmacy. Those who are younger need to make documents and go to the Administrative Services Center. We don’t have anything in our village. We are very grateful to ADRA Ukraine and the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund for the opportunity to get to the services. You have done very important work for us.”
Due to social transportation, residents of remote settlements of the Shyrokiv community will be able to receive medical, social and administrative services in Shyroke village. Free social trips take place twice a week, every Tuesday and every Thursday.
