PROTECTION/GENDER SPECIALIST

JOB PURPOSE. The protection Officer will be responsible for the timely and quality delivery of the protection activities of the project. She/he will work with the protection team and ensure the smooth running of the program in close coordination with the project manager. She/he will ensure that a survivor-centered approach is adhered to and that GBV survivors and other vulnerable women and girls receive prompt and comprehensive services.

MAIN DUTIES

  • To coordinate mental health and psychosocial services, critical protection services, information and referral support through a case management system for ADRA staff and volunteers, host families, refugees, and displaced persons
  • Closely work with psychological support workers and psychologists, and other outreach workers to ensure that best practices are respected, and international standards are met in responding to and preventing GBV
  • Develop information resources and conduct services and infrastructure mapping to determine appropriate referrals for survivors as part of the multisectoral response to GBV. 
  • Deliver and participate in regular capacity-building initiatives for staff, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure quality and comprehensive delivery of project activities on thematic areas including SRHR, GBV, and PSEA.
  • Facilitate the setting up of a gender-sensitive child and adolescent-friendly functional safe spaces for women and girls and supervise all safe space activities and community outreaches
  • Maintain, monitor, and measure GBV project implementation in close coordination with the M&E officer and contribute to effective information management on GBV survivors, adhering to the national guidance on case management of survivors and the SOPs
  • Attend relevant local coordination meetings and relevant clusters, working groups, and other NGO and UN agencies meetings for learning and sharing and keep abreast of recent developments in the protection sector and geopolitical shifts  
  • Submit quality doner reports as scheduled in the proposal including quarterly/ monthly and end-of-project consulting with the project Manager
  • Carry out any other duties as outlined by the supervisor.

Required knowledge, skills, experience, and qualification.

  • University degree in a relevant field with 3 or more years of experience in a similar role In-depth knowledge of protection, GBV/SGBV, child protection, and psycho-social principles, especially in the Ukraine/Moldova setting.
  • Hands-on experience of working with affected communities
  • Implementation of capacity-building activities for community, staff, and partners 
  • Proficiency in English, with excellent writing skills
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills
