After the art therapy meeting, one of the boys approached the psychologist with words of thanks for three more days in a row. He said that this meeting became special for him, and the doll he created with his own hands during the class will remind him of warm emotions and a feeling of support.

It was for the sake of such moments that this summer the ADRA Kids team joined the support of seven children of ex-combatants who rested in the camp of the teenage club of trackers in the village of Krychovo in Zakarpattia region.

An art therapy practice was organized for children of all ages with the participation of a psychologist from ADRA Ukraine. Through creativity, communication and a calm atmosphere, the participants gradually relaxed, opened up and had the opportunity to safely express their emotions. Each child created his own doll — a small symbol of the experience and warm memories of this meeting.

For ex-combatants’ children, such moments often mean more than just interesting leisure time. This is an opportunity to feel cared for, make new friends, be in a safe environment and at least for a while distract yourself from the challenges that war has brought.

At the conclusion of the event, all participants received gifts from ADRA Kids. For the project team, this is another opportunity to give children not only useful things, but also attention, support and sincere emotions that remain in the memory for a long time.
