On September 28, a presentation of the new ADRA Ukraine «ADRA Kids project will take place in the city of Kyiv, on the territory of the Cossack village named “Mamaeva Sloboda”. The initiative is aimed at supporting children of veterans*, fallen soldiers and families affected by the war.

The participants of the event can expect a festive program with quests, creative master classes and activities at various locations. The event will end with the presentation of gifts from ADRA Ukraine. About 200 children will receive surprises that will help them develop their talents and find new hobbies.

Why

The full-scale war caused a deep demographic and social crisis in Ukraine. Thousands of children experience the loss of loved ones, isolation, financial hardship and stigma. Timely support will help avoid serious psychological consequences in the future and give children a chance for a happy life.

Who is this project for

ADRA Kids covers children aged 6 to 14, including:

– veterans’ children*;

– children of fallen soldiers;

– children of missing persons and prisoners;

– internally displaced persons whose families were forced to leave their homes;

– children who survived hostilities or traumatic events of war;

– children who were injured.

Children who meet the terms of the project can join the event through open registration.

What we plan

The mission of ADRA Kids — is to provide comprehensive support to children affected by the war: from basic material needs to psychological and emotional rehabilitation.

The project team is working to create a support community where no child is left alone with their fears and traumas.

In addition to gifts, the project provides for: rehabilitation in sanatoriums and camps; professional psychological support (online and in ADRA Ukraine protection centers); the opportunity to work in extracurricular clubs and sections.

The overall goal of the initiative is to help 100,000 children in Ukraine regain psychological balance, socialize and experience the joy of childhood again.

Background information

ADRA Ukraine is not the first time it has helped children affected by war. As part of various projects, since 2014, children have been receiving gifts, rest in camps, etc. Over 50,000 gifts were distributed to children during this period, and 22,000 children (aged 6-18) received psychological assistance. And now ADRA Ukraine calls on everyone who cares to support the initiative financially or join partner projects. “Together we can give children warmth, care and faith in the future”, the organization emphasizes.
