Summer camp program for vulnerable children from Ukraine affected by war continues in Austria
Since early July, ADRA Ukraine together with its partners from ADRA Austria has jointly implemented that Summer Camp project. Thanks to this project, vulnerable children from various regions of Ukraine have a chance to enjoy a vacation in Austria. The project is designed for five groups of children and will continue until the end of August. The first two groups of kids have already returned to Ukraine. The Austrian partners are ready to receive a total of 150 children. The recreation programme is arranged by ADRA Ukraine.
The camp program is designed from children aged between 7 and 13 from Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv and other regions. The target population is IDP children, children affected by hostilities, kids from low-income families, families with many children and single-parent-headed households. ADRA Ukraine has appointed a total of 27 facilitators, who will accompany the children and work as kitchen assistants, teachers, educators and interpreters.
The camps are held in such locations as Strobl, Sittersdorf, Bogenhofen, and Schwarzenberg. The program of the camps, each of which lasts for two weeks, includes a variety of activities, including swimming in lakes, hiking, visiting museums and historical sites, contests, sports competitions, and participation in local festivals.
