A long-awaited meeting with the grandson. ADRA Ukraine social transportation has helped to unite the family
In March 2022, Liubov Hryhorivna, a 68-year-old woman, a resident of Vodiane village, Hrechanopodivska community, had a truly joyful event – her grandson was born.
“After February 24, all transportation in our community stopped,” – the woman says, “so I couldn’t come to visit my daughter and see the baby. To rent a car to get there costs 400 hryvnias one way, but I don’t have that amount of money. So finally, thanks to the social transportation of ADRA Ukraine, I was able to come to my relatives and brought gifts. This is such happiness for me. Thank you very much for your assistance.”
On July 8, the first trip of the social route of ADRA Ukraine, implemented in cooperation with the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, took place in the Hrechanopodivska community of Kryvorizka district of Dnipropetrovsk region.
Halyna Usyk, a head of Hrechanyi Podiv village, says: “Our community has about five thousand residents, many of whom are IDPs. People need to go to the hospital, pension fund and other places. There is no public transportation. So, ADRA Ukraine project on provision of social transportation has become real support for us. Now we have a social route that covers 10 settlements twice a week. This is very important for residents. So, we thank you very much.”
As of July 8, 2022, ADRA Ukraine provides uninterrupted service for 30 social routes in eight communities of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions. Since February of this year, 2,852 people have been evacuated to safer places, 7,749 people have been provided with access to vital infrastructure within the framework of the project.
