Adelina Viacheslavivna comes from Mariupol where she lived before the war. The woman worked as a laboratory technician at a blood transfusion station. Together with her husband, they dreamed about the future. However, everything changed in one day.

In the first days of the war, Adelina still went to work, but the situation worsened every day, and on March 2, the woman already stayed at home. It was dangerous in the city, so she and her husband moved to their grandfather’s basement. They took with them only what they were wearing and bed linen so that it would be more comfortable to sleep. “We cooked food on the fire, but it’s hard to call it food,” the woman recalls.

She and her husband hoped to the last that everything would end soon, but it didn’t get any better, and they decided to leave. The road was very uneasy, the woman did not know what to expect. However, when they arrived in Zaporizhzhia, it became a little easier. “We felt like we were at home,” says Adelina. Then, they went to Lviv where their daughter was waiting for them. They lived there for some time. Then Adelina’s family moved to Kyiv. It is here that they now live in a rented apartment. The family lost their home. As their neighbors said, their house was completely burnt down. “We will have to start everything from the scratch,” the woman adds.

Adelina learned about ADRA Ukraine organization from her acquaintances already in Kyiv. She applied and very soon received financial assistance from the organization, thanks to which she was able to cover the expenses for urgent needs that arose due to the lack of work and pay for rent of an apartment in a new city. The woman and her family are very grateful for the help because it is much easier when you are not alone.
