Nadiia Mykolaivna is a pensioner. She met the first days of hostilities in Ukraine in her native town in Kherson region. This woman with tears in her eyes remembers how she hid in basements with her relatives. There are nine people in her family, including children.
“When there were bombings or airplanes flew, children hid and cried,” recalls Nadiia. Later, when it was already clear that the hostilities would not end quickly, the family decided to evacuate to a safer city. That’s how they got to Tulchyn. Nadiia says that they have neither relatives nor friends there. So they did not know where they would live, sleep and eat.
“There was nowhere to go, we just didn’t know where. We got together and left,” says the woman. At first, they slept on desks in one of the schools in Vinnytsia region. And then they knew about ADRA Ukraine organization through acquaintances that there are such temporary accommodation centers for internally displaced persons. They were very happy when they realized that they could be accommodated there as a whole family.
“We are well fed here, the beds and mattresses are very comfortable, the linen is clean. You can’t even believe it – we feel here like home! Such a good attitude towards us, such a nice staff. I say this from the bottom of my heart: now we sing songs in the evenings!” — says Nadiia Mykolaivna.
The whole family of the woman sincerely thanks for the shelter. And they are waiting for a peaceful time to return home.
