The city of Dergachi in the Kharkiv region lives under the sounds of alarms and distant explosions. But even in such living conditions, — continues and food aid from the UN World Food Program (WFP) is distributed here every month in partnership with ADRA Ukraine and ADRA Switzerland.

Project manager Maryna Potekha tells:
— We are currently in the city of Dergachi (Dergachi community), Kharkiv region. Distribution here takes place monthly —, meaning every month people who belong to the vulnerability categories can come and get help from WFP. To do this, you need to provide documents confirming the status and complete registration.

In Dergachy, there are several locations for issuing —, the city is large, so the team works in parallel at several points. Security remains a top priority.

— A few minutes ago we heard an explosion, — continues Maryna. — Because of this, they were forced to temporarily stop distribution. We are responsible for the safety of beneficiaries, so we act as quickly and carefully as possible. The city is located close to the border, so distributions are carried out in an organized and coordinated manner so that everyone can receive help without risk.

Four registrars work at one of the locations. One of them — Victor — checks documents, enters data into the database and issues a sheet with a mark on how many sets a person owns. With this piece of paper, the recipient approaches the employees who issue the aid.

Next to it is a stand with a sample of the — product set so that everyone can see exactly what is included in the composition. People come in different ways: someone on foot, someone on a bicycle or with neighbors in a car. Often bicycles become a real transport of hope — they help bring home the most necessary things.

So, to the sound of sirens and stoppage of work due to danger, the ADRA Ukraine team continues to do its job — to provide people with products and support that have become a matter of survival for many.
