The team managed to take people away: an FPV drone damaged an ADRA Ukraine truck in Zolochiv
On September 23, an incident with an FPV drone occurred in the village of Zolochiv, Kharkiv region, during the distribution of food aid. Due to the team noticing the danger in time and leading people away from the distribution place, no one was injured.
Delivery of food kits began at 8:00 a.m. near the local cultural center. Around 9:15 a.m., when most people had already received help, workers spotted an FPV drone flying nearby.
The people still standing were asked to move as far away as possible, and the team members left the truck and hid at a safe distance.
According to the driver, the drone flew nearby for some time and then headed towards the car. He touched the truck, but most of the blast wave came along the hull, which saved the car from more serious damage. As a result, the explosion damaged a ten-ton truck: the windshield was broken and the side glass on the driver’s side was broken, and the cabin was damaged.
After the incident, the distribution of aid was stopped. The full ADRA Ukraine team returned to the office. The damaged car is planned to be repaired.
In Zolochiv, ADRA Ukraine distribute food kits of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) with the support of ADRA Switzerland. Assistance is provided at the rate of one food kit per person. Community delivery began on September 21 and was scheduled for release by the end of the month.
