A new water tower appeared in Sofia Hospital thanks to the ADRA Ukraine project
On June 10, the charitable organization ADRA Ukraine officially transferred to the balance of the Executive Committee of the Sofia Village Council (that located in the Kryvyi Rih district of the Dnipropetrovsk region) a new water tower installed as part of the “WMT Ukraine” project (Pure water, mental peace and social transport for Ukrainians affected by conflict.) The object is located on the territory of the Sofia Central Hospital (that located in the Sofiyivka village). The initiative was implemented with the financial support of Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH) and ADRA Czech Republic.
This water tower of the Rozhnovsky type is designed for uninterrupted water supply to small rural settlements. It not only stores significant reserves of water for periods of increased consumption, but also ensures its supply even in the absence of electricity, which is critically important during emergencies. In addition, the tower can be used as a source of water for fire extinguishing.
The hospital, on the territory of which the tower is installed, provides a wide range of medical services: there are a consultative and diagnostic center, three inpatient departments (surgical, therapeutic, pediatric), Centralized Sterilization Department, Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory, radiological and dental offices, a reception department with an emergency room, a laundry room and a catering unit.
Thanks to the installed water tower, 2,958 beneficiaries – patients and hospital staff – will have constant access to water supply, which is the key to quality medical care.
Soon, it is also planned to install a reverse osmosis-based water purification system in the catering unit of the medical institution under the “WMT Ukraine” project. This will provide beneficiaries with pure and safe drinking water.
