The charity organization ADRA Ukraine, in partnership with the charitable foundation «Rokada», handed over individual educational kits to children in the city of Dnipro at the end of June — in early July. Distributions took place in two local protection and support centers, as well as in other locations, in particular in the village of Petrykivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. This activity was implemented within the framework of inter-cluster interaction in the humanitarian sphere (educational and shelter clusters).

The sets included basic educational materials: notebooks, writing utensils, albums, backpacks and other necessary things that will contribute to a high-quality and comfortable start of the new academic year. Sets are distributed both in protection and support centers and in places of temporary stay of displaced persons. In total, it is planned to distribute 169 sets: 90 — for students of 1–4 classes, 79 — for students of 5–9 classes.

In parallel with the distribution of educational kits, ADRA Ukraine specialists were provided with psychosocial assistance. Psychologist Maryna Nikolenko, together with facilitator Olena Melnyk, held group sessions for children aimed at reducing psycho-emotional stress, awareness of internal support and filling with resources. Children were involved in art therapy exercises.

The initiative is part of the systematic support for internally displaced persons and children from vulnerable categories of the population, which ADRA Ukraine implements together with the partners. Assistance is provided within several projects:

PSS Schools Phase II — project aimed at psychosocial support of children, parents and teachers in educational institutions (with the support of ADRA Australia);
SMHUF — educational and humanitarian initiatives for war-affected children (supported by ADRA Sweden and Radiohjälpen charitable organization);
Mental Health, Winterization, and Protection (MHWP) — project covering mental health, winter preparation and protection of vulnerable populations (supported by International Humanitarian Assistance of Canada (IHA) in conjunction with ADRA Canada).
