ADRA Ukraine handed over wheelchairs to people with disabilities and hospitals of the Mykolaiv region
On October 29–30, the ADRA Ukraine team handed over wheelchairs for people with disabilities in the city of Mykolaiv and in the communities of the Mykolaiv region. Assistance was provided within the framework of two projects — “Wheelchairs Foundation 2025” with the support of the donor Chair The Love (USA) and LDS Wheelchairs with the support of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mykolaiv Regional Hospital received 22 wheelchairs within the LDS Wheelchairs project. This hospital serves the entire region, including the city of Kherson, so the transferred equipment will be useful to many patients who need mobility.
Association of People with Disabilities of the Mykolaiv Region received 10 wheelchairs under the LDS Wheelchairs project and another 10 chairs within the Wheelchairs Foundation 2025 project. Some of them are already taken by union volunteers to villages where people who cannot come on their own. Since the regional union is also engaged in the evacuation and transportation of people with disabilities to hospitals and rehabilitation centers in Mykolaiv, part of wheelchairs needed to transport the people, who cannot move without the help.
Association of People with Disabilities of the city of Mykolaiv received the largest batch of 60 wheelchairs within the framework of the Wheelchairs Foundation 2025 project.
ADRA Ukraine delivered the equipment at the request of the Association of People with Disabilities of the city and region. Representatives of these associations help in organizing the distribution and delivery of assistance directly to people who cannot come on their own.
«We hand over the chairs to associations, first hand them out together, and then the rest they deliver them to those who need them most. This allows to reach even remote communities of the region», — was noted by representatives of the ADRA Ukraine team.
It should be said that «Nova Poshta» — helped to deliver wheelchairs from a warehouse in the Kyiv region to the city of Mykolaiv. This organization delivered 103 chairs by its own transport free of charge.
Thanks to the joint efforts of partners, many people received help, for whom a wheelchair means the possibility of movement, independence and a decent life.
