After rehabilitation, the girl spoke again. ADRA Ukraine partners raise funds for war-affected children
On December 8, 2025, a charity evening was held at the National Children’s Hospital «Ohmatdyt» in Kyiv with the premiere of the documentary short film Lina, based on the real story of a six-year-old girl rescued from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. After her return, Lina resumed broadcasting thanks to therapy at «Ohmatdyt» and underwent rehabilitation at the trauma center «Hope and Healing» of the public organization Save Ukraine —, partner of ADRA Ukraine, whose representatives also took part in the event.
The film, made by The Humanity Funds, tells about the difficult path of a girl who lived under occupation with her mother and seven siblings for more than a year. Only after returning to the territory controlled by Ukraine, Lina received the necessary help, was able to speak again, feel safe and start recovery.
Earlier, ADRA Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation with Save Ukraine —, an organization that systematically works on the rescue and rehabilitation of children and families affected by the war, as well as on the reconstruction of Ukraine. Save Ukraine is currently raising funds to support vulnerable — orphans, unaccompanied adults, children with disabilities and survivors of deportation and occupation. In 2026, the organization plans to rescue and comprehensively rehabilitate 1,000 children. The total requirement is $4,530,000, or $4,530 per child.
Support is also needed by «Ohmatdyt», in particular the pediatric neurosurgery department, which requires high-tech equipment and consumables. This enables doctors to treat children with severe brain injuries and complex neurological conditions, particularly those caused by war. The annual requirement for consumables is from 830 to 950 thousand US dollars.
Every contribution for our partners — is a real chance for healing and a return to life. Together, Save Ukraine and «Ohmatdyt» save children’s lives and restore hope, but this mission is possible only with the support of caring partners and donors.
