At the winter holiday event in Lviv, children of IDPs received gifts from ADRA Japan
In the modular town for internally displaced persons in Lviv, Seventh-day Adventist Church Teenage Pathfinder Club “Libero” together with volunteers of ADRA Ukraine and the creative team of the private lyceum “Zhyve Slovo” (EN: Living World) organized a charity event – a winter holiday. The program of the event, which took place on December 22, included the art therapeutic workshop of the good “Warm patterns of the cold winter,” as well as the puppet show “Pearl.” In addition, more than 100 displaced children who came to the event received gifts from ADRA Japan.
At the art therapy workshop, kind children learned to express emotions using non-standard drawing techniques – hot chocolate on paper. The puppet show was about a pearl, which was originally a grain of sand. People often also feel insignificant in this world, useless to anyone, but in God’s hands they become precious pearls. Each of us is very valuable – this was the main idea of this performance, which the organizers then discussed with the children during interactive communication.
For the Teenage Pathfinder Club “Libero” this is not the first experience of social service, because in the training program of the club there is a specialization called “ADRA,” within which adolescents learn to serve their neighbors, help people in need, feed the hungry, support IDPs. They learn to join forces to reach more people in need.
