Four new water towers have been installed in the communities of Mykolaiv region
Four new water towers appeared in Mykolaiv region – in Pervomaiska, Voskresenska and Kostyantynivska communities, thanks to a project implemented by ADRA Ukraine. Thanks to the implementation of this stage of the project, 5,538 beneficiaries received constant access to water supply, which is the basis for the provision of basic vital services.
At the end of January of this year, the charitable organization officially handed over four new water towers installed within the framework of the “EU DCA WASH” project to the balance sheet of the Kandybyne settlement council (Kostyantynivska community), the Voskresenke settlement council (the villages of Kalynivka and Peresadivka), and the Pervomaiske settlement council (Pervomaiske village). Support for preparation for the winter of front-line communities and increasing sustainability through community initiatives, infrastructure reconstruction and green energy.
The initiative is being implemented with financial support from the European Commission in cooperation with DCA/NCA partners (DanChurchAid and NorwegianChurchAid).
The installed water towers of the Rozhnovskyi type are designed to ensure uninterrupted water supply in the specified rural settlements. They allow for the accumulation of significant water supplies for peak consumption periods and provide water supply even in the absence of electricity, which is critical during mass blackouts.
In some settlements, water towers did not function for decades, and in other — they were damaged as a result of hostilities. As part of the project, a complex of works was carried out, which included cleaning wells, updating electrical equipment and installing fences. As a result, hundreds of households and social institutions have received stable water supplies, and in some villages, water has appeared for the first time in many years.
A fifth water tower is also expected to be installed in the village of Berizky, Kryvoozerska community, Pervomayskyi district, Mykolaiv region, in the near future. It will fully provide water supply to the town for children deprived of parental care, together with the staff of the institution.
