On February 18, ADRA Ukraine drilled and equipped boreholes in two general secondary education institutions of the Tsarychanska community in Dnipropetrovsk region. From now on, the Tsarychanska branch of the Tsarychanka Lyceum and the Priadivka Lyceum are provided with their own water sources with depths of 110 and 128 meters. This means guaranteed and uninterrupted access to clean water for 310 students and 72 teachers at any time.

The assistance was implemented within the framework of the WMTW project “Safe Water, Mental Peace, Social Transport and Winter Support for Ukrainians Affected by the Conflict,” with the support of Aktion Deutschland Hilft, ADRA Czech Republic, and ADRA Germany.

For rural schools, the issue of water supply often remains vulnerable due to worn-out networks and electricity interruptions. Under such conditions, stable access to clean drinking water becomes not just a convenience, but a necessary condition for a full educational process, compliance with sanitary standards, and the organization of meals.

Among the students of these institutions are children from large and low-income families, internally displaced persons, children of ex-combatants and fallen soldiers, as well as children with disabilities. For them, a safe and stable educational environment has special importance.

The new boreholes increase the autonomy of educational institutions, reduce their dependence on centralized water supply systems, and allow schools to function continuously even under crisis conditions. This is an investment not only in infrastructure, but also in the safety and sustainability of the educational process.
