Residents of Borova community receive assistance from the UN World Food Programme
The ADRA Ukraine team actively helps the evacuated residents of the Borova community of the Izyum district of the Kharkiv region, providing food and cash assistance from the UN World Food Programme with the support of ADRA Switzerland. Due to the intensification of hostilities from November 21, a forced evacuation was announced in the Borova community. Residents move to an evacuation center in the city of Izum, where ADRA Ukraine registers evacuees for cash assistance until December 30. In addition, each visitor to the center receives a food kit.
As of November, ADRA Ukraine volunteers registered 911 people for cash assistance, and in December – 603 more people (as of December 24). Each family member is assisted in the amount of UAH 10,800 for three months (UAH 3,600 per month). The food kit from the World Food Programme includes 2 loaves of bread, 4 cans of stew and 2 cans of beans.
The evacuated people come from the following settlements of the community: the town of Borova, the villages of Pysky-Radkyvsky, Boguslavka, Zagrizove, Shyikivka, Novoplatonyvka, Vyshche Solone, Nyzhche Solone and Pidlyman. However, some villages still have residents, including families with children. For such people, ADRA Ukraine volunteers continue to deliver bread from WFP directly to the community. In total, about a 1,000 people remain in these settlements.
However, the situation is becoming more dangerous. As of today, volunteers have lost access to the villages of Boguslavka, Zagrizove, Nyzhche Solone and Shyikivka, which complicates the delivery of assistance a lot. In December, despite the difficulties, volunteers were able to deliver food kits to some settlements.
ADRA Ukraine, in cooperation with the UN World Food Programme, continues to make effort to provide support to affected residents, despite the challenges and dangers in the region.
