Teams «Ukrainian Deminers Association» and ADRA Ukraine learned to combat sexual exploitation
On July 16, a training session was held for employees of the public organization «Ukrainian Deminers Association» and the charitable organization ADRA Ukraine on the topic of prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse in the humanitarian sphere (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse — PSEA).
The speaker of the event was Kateryna Hitz, protection and security specialist of ADRA Ukraine, who presented key approaches to creating a safe environment for beneficiaries and employees of humanitarian organizations. Viktoriya Arnautova, gender specialist of the NGO «Ukrainian Deminers Association», also joined the discussion, who emphasized the importance of gender-sensitive communication and embedding the principles of protection in everyday work with communities.
Participants got acquainted with:
– PSEA principles and international standards;
– mechanisms for preventing and responding to cases of sexual exploitation and abuse;
– the importance of ethics, trust, confidentiality and accountability in working with people affected by conflict.
The training took place within the framework of the project «Comprehensive training on mine risks and assistance to residents of communities affected by the conflict in the front-line and de-occupied regions of Ukraine», which is implemented with the support of OCHA.
