Thanks to the help of ADRA Ukraine, 89-year-old Vilina was able to walk again
Says Eduard Eremenko, pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist community in Pushcha-Voditsia district of the city of Kyiv:
– Vilina Merkulova lives in Pushcha-Voditsia and is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She devoted almost her entire life to work at “Dzherelo Zhyttya” (EN: Source of Life) publishing house, which was founded by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In September 2023, Vilina unsuccessfully fell and broke her hip. Doctors hoped that the bone would grow together naturally, but this did not happen. She lay for several months without a result. The amount of endoprosthetics was large, so we, as a community, began to look for opportunities for support.
I asked ADRA Ukraine for help, and the organization agreed to partially cover the cost of the operation to install an artificial hip joint. After the operation, Vilina was able to walk again.
Subsequently, another problem arose – fluid began to flow out of the knee joint, and the leg stopped bending. We again turned to ADRA Ukraine, and the second time we received support – this time for knee prosthetics surgery.
Today Vilina is 89 years old. It is not without difficulties, but she can already move independently. She lives with her husband in Pushcha-Vodytsia district. Both she and all her fellow believers are sincerely grateful to ADRA Ukraine for this important assistance.
