On July 29, residents of two villages of the Berislav community of the Kherson region — Urozhayne and Rakivka — received humanitarian aid from the UN World Food Programme with the support of ADRA Switzerland. The mission was organized by representatives of the UN WFP in cooperation with ADRA Ukraine and the head of the military administration of the Berislav community.

In Rakivka, 304 food kits were issued for 152 beneficiaries. The Issue was carried out by local employees of ADRA Ukraine. 454 kits for 227 people were delivered to Urozhayne —, it only shipped. Issuance is planned as soon as the security situation allows —, it will also be carried out by ADRA Ukraine employees living in the community.

The humanitarian mission included representatives of the Odesa office of the UN WFP in Ukraine: Jalal Shah — head of the office, Shehu Abdul-Karim — head of the program department, Lyudmila Tregubenko — program specialist; as well as Maryna Potekha, head of the UN WFP project from ADRA Ukraine.

The situation in the region is extremely dangerous: for several months there has been no access to the city of Berislav due to constant drone attacks and shelling. Urozhayne and Rakivka, located near the coastline, are actually close to the front line, so people here are under threat. Because of this it was decided to organize a carefully prepared humanitarian mission, which was planned for more than a month. The UN WFP provided the mission with armored vehicles and trucks that delivered the food.

During the visit, Jalal Shah spoke with the residents of Rakivka about their lives in war, the difficulties they face and the importance of humanitarian support. The representatives of the mission also met with the head of the Rakiv Starostat Serhii Gennadiyovych. People told how the life of the community changed with the beginning of the full-scale war, how despite shelling and drone danger they still remain in their homes, grow vegetables and continue to believe in peace.
