Tragedy in Poniativka: a drone attacked civilians
ADRA Ukraine expresses its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and all injured as a result of the tragic incident that took place on January 5 in the village of Poniativka, Daryivska community, Kherson region.
That day, the drone struck local residents who were near the location where a humanitarian bread distribution was later planned. A 64-year-old man died as a result of the attack. Two more people — 79-year-old woman and 71-year-old man — were injured and taken to hospital.
The distribution of bread from the UN World Food Programme in partnership with ADRA Ukraine with the support of ADRA Switzerland was scheduled for 10:00. The strike took place around 8:45 — more than an hour before the start of the aid, at a place where local residents usually catch mobile communications.
An ADRA Ukraine volunteer went to the location after receiving permission from the local military administration, taking into account the security situation, and gave bread to about 15 people.
