Psychological training «Development of the resource, ecological ways of expressing accumulated emotions» took place at the Protection and Support Center of ADRA Ukraine in the city of Kryvyi Rih, located in Dnipropetrovsk region. Psychologist Valentyna Sirenko and facilitator Zlata Khudiakova within the framework of the IHA MHWP project with the support of the Government of Canada and ADRA Canada taught how to support themselves when there is too much tension.

During the class, they talked about how to recognize your emotional state, what helps to cope with stress and how you can express accumulated emotions without harming yourself and others. The work used resource metaphorical maps that helped to gently look at one’s own experiences, find words for what is inside, and remember one’s sources of power.

A separate part of the meeting was devoted to creativity. Participants worked with fabric in the «kinusaiga» technique and created their own paintings. This practice combined attentiveness, imagination, handwork and a calm focus on the process. For many, it became an opportunity to switch, feel in a safe space and see the concrete result of their work.

At the end, each participant took with him a picture created by himself. But the main thing left after the meeting, — is a feeling of warmth, peace and a reminder that the internal resource can be restored in small, simple and affordable steps.
