UN officials on humanitarian issues discussed with partners assistance to vulnerable population of Kherson region
In Kherson on September 9, representatives of ADRA Ukraine and other charitable organizations met with Matthias Schmale, humanitarian coordinator of the UN system in Ukraine, as well as with Sarah Hilding der Weduwen, head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The participants discussed humanitarian activities in the Kherson region and the challenges faced by volunteers.
The charitable organization ADRA Ukraine at the meeting was represented by employees of the project team of the UN World Food Programme in the Kherson region: Serhiy Sereda, project coordinator; Evgen Muntyan, bread distribution coordinator; Kateryna Bilyk, Head of Distribution Group. They spoke about the problems faced by the organization, raised the issue of security of the humanitarian mission. Matthias Schmale promised to facilitate the communication of charitable organizations with communities.
Matthias Schmale recently took the post of humanitarian coordinator of the UN system in Ukraine (his predecessor was Denise Brown). Sarah Hilding leaves the post of head of the UN office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, so for her this meeting was farewell. Humanitarian partners thanked her for her cooperation.
