The incident occurred on February 12 in the village of Vesele, that located in Nova Kakhovka community of Kherson region, where local volunteers distributed food kits received from the UN World Food Programme and ADRA Ukraine to people in need. As a result of the drone attack, the food kits delivery driver was injured, food kits were damaged, and during repeated shelling, the driver’s car carrying humanitarian aid was destroyed.

On that day, ADRA Ukraine volunteers from among the residents of Nova Kakhovka community arrived in the Berislav community to receive humanitarian aid from the UN World Food Programme. The ADRA Ukraine team delivered 158 food kits there, but due to the limited capacity of transport, volunteers could transport cargo only by fixed parts. They left the Berislav community at about 02:30 p.m. During the first ride, 31 boxes were delivered to the village of Vesele and assistance was started. At that moment, an enemy drone appeared in the sky. Villagers and volunteers began to scatter, and the drone dropped a bomb. As a result of the explosion, the driver received a concussion and a shrapnel wound in the shoulder, and six boxes of food kits were damaged. Later, the car was driven to the garage, but at night it was re-fired and was completely destroyed. The injured driver is currently receiving medical attention.

In the villages of Vesele and Kozatske, which are part of the Nova Kakhovka community, now live 158 people. This is a high-risk zone located near the destroyed Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station and the front line.
