“We felt real support”: the director of the Lyceum “Academy of Wisdom” about the assistance from ADRA Ukraine
Director of the private lyceum “Akademiya Mudrosti” (EN: Academy of Wisdom), that placed in the city of Bucha, Iryna Steshits talks about important initiatives implemented with the support of the charitable organization ADRA Ukraine.
“In the 2024-2025 academic year, our lyceum received significant support from ADRA Ukraine – and this really made it possible to implement several important projects.
In September 2024, Alina, a psychologist at ADRA, worked with the pedagogical, parental and student team as part of the PSS Schools project with the support of ADRA Australia to restore mental health in the equipped space: five seat bags, a printer, a board game were purchased – all this became part of the space where the ADRA Ukraine psychologist works.
Within the framework of the same project, vocational guidance classes were organized for students in grades 9-11. Iryna, a practical psychologist and career guidance specialist at ADRA, applied an effective technique, thanks to which each student received individualized information in a convenient format. Parents noted the high level of organization and content of the materials.
We also had a great advantage to receive New Year’s gifts for students of the Private Lyceum “Academy of Wisdom” and pupils of the kindergarten “Mudriyko” (EN: Wise child). Thanks to the partnership support of ADRA Ukraine, a wonderful initiative was implemented – we were able to prepare 150 gifts. This event brought a lot of joy, and sincere smiles of children and gratitude of parents became the best reward.
Since January 2025, the second phase of the PSS Schools project has started, which covered such areas as: providing psychosocial support to participants in the educational process and organizing centers for catching up on educational losses. In the centers, classes were held in the afternoon with students of the 9th grade (for catching up on losses for the 8th grade) in the Ukrainian language and the 7th grade (for the 6th grade) in mathematics. Schoolchildren from other educational institutions of the Bucha community also joined the classes.
