In August, the emergency food assistance project with the support of the UN World Food Program (WFP) started implementing another type of food assistance and reached new marks in all directions. In particular, ADRA Ukraine team has distributed 2,598,475 loaves of bread. Eleven regions, including Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Luhansk, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and others, have received 199,575 food kits of various purposes. As part of the new type of assistance, 73,684 food certificates have been distributed to beneficiaries in Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
In the period from July 31 to August 15, food kits were distributed to internally displaced persons with the support of ADRA Slovakia in three regions of Ukraine, including Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi. In 18 settlements, 1,320 kits have been distributed, one kit per family. This assistance has reached about 4,000 people.
The direction of psychological assistance continues to be provided within the framework of several projects of ADRA Ukraine. In August, a group of psychologists visited Dnipro, where they held six meetings in the format of support groups for IDPs from hot spots of Ukraine, namely, from such cities as Kharkiv, Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Bakhmut, Mariupol, Velikoy Novosilka, etc. In August, almost 1,000 new beneficiaries have received psychological support, among whom a large number are women, children and the elderly. In total, about 5,000 people have received direct assistance since the start of implementation.
ADRA Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, in close cooperation with local authorities and units of the State Emergency Service, promotes the evacuation of the civilian population from Donetsk region, providing transport services on a free basis. Last week, civilians were evacuated from Toretsk that is currently under shelling. To date, since February 2022, more than 4000 people have been evacuated by ADRA Ukraine transport. Evacuation is mainly carried out in Dnipro, where there is a possibility of safe accommodation and evacuation trains operate.
