Buses and ambulances for evacuation of people – project supported by the Government of Canada
Within the framework of LEAP project implemented with the support of the Canadian government, there are several areas of assistance – provision of psychological support and evacuation from front-line areas to safer territory of Ukraine. The activity covers Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk, Donetsk and Kyiv regions.
10 buses and 2 ambulances are involved in evacuation that make trips on a regular basis. These cars are used to transport people of retirement age, people with disabilities or seriously ill people.
Thus, at the beginning of November, the charitable organization “Help for Ukrainians” appealed to ADRA Ukraine with a request to help in evacuation of people with limited mobility of retirement age from Zaporizhzhia to Dnipro, and further evacuate them to western Ukraine. Considering the age and state of health of the passengers, it was decided to evacuate them by ambulance under the supervision of the doctor.
Despite the difficult circumstances, the evacuees were successfully transported to the point of further transportation.
In total, since the start of the project, more than 5,600 people have already received assistance in this direction. This activity continues.
