On November 4, the charitable organization ADRA Ukraine, with the help of contractors, completed the drilling of the second of two planned wells in the village of Sofiyivka, Dnipropetrovsk region, to provide residents of the village with water for everyday needs. The first well, located on the territory of the Sofiyivka Lyceum and capable of producing up to 10 cubic meters of water per hour, was completed on October 29. Currently, work is underway to equip these additional sources of water supply. The work is carried out within the framework of the project with the support of the ADRA Czech Republic.

For several months, the settlement suffered from serious problems with water supply due to the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant in June this year. Previously, water came from the city of Kryvyi Rih, which after the disaster itself was without water supply. The situation was especially critical in July and August, when water appeared in the water supply system in Sofiivka only twice a week. Therefore, the village administration asked ADRA Ukraine for assistance in resolving this issue. Now the charitable organization is working to provide the residents of Sofiyivka and the lyceum, where 850 students study, with an additional autonomous source of water.
