Free-of-charge transportation support for people with limited mobility returning home from the evacuation continues as part of the LEAP project supported by the Canadian Government. This, in June 30th, our charitable organization sent an ambulance vehicle to help 85-years-old Maria Savelivna accompanied by her daughter to return to the home city of Mykolaiv from Shehyni Village, Lviv Region, on the Western border.

The woman evacuated last year and since then had stayed abroad, however, as soon as the security situation in Mykolaiv improved, she decided to return home. In late May, her daughter Antonina Ivanivna called ADRA Ukraine’s hotline and requested transportation assistance for her mother to travel within Ukraine. The trip was arranged as soon as Maria Savelivna crossed the Ukrainian border.

Our charitable organization offers the transportation support for people willing to return home from the evacuation, provided that a final destination point is not classified as the active combat zone. The trips are scheduled depending on the number of people requesting assistance – at least 10 passengers for conventional buses or at least 2 people (i.e. a person with disability and an accompanying caregiver) for special ambulance vehicles.
