Help for those who find themselves on the sidelines of life: ADRA Ukraine supports the «Kovcheh» center
Dnipropetrovsk region, Obukhivka village. The Christian House of Mercy «Kovcheh» (EN: Ark) is located here, the founder of which is Valerii Riabkov, a believer of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The centre is home to people who find themselves in particularly difficult circumstances: people with disabilities, homeless women, former alcohol and drug addicts, as well as persons who, after being released from prison, undergo social adjustment and rehabilitation. Recently, the center received humanitarian aid from ADRA Ukraine, which became possible thanks to donations collected through the website of this charitable organization.

Valerii Riabkov says:
— For 26 years now, I have been serving people left without a home and support. Now 80 people live in our center. Of them, 20 help in the work of the center, 18 — are displaced persons and people with disabilities. Among our wards there are those who have very difficult physical limitations: completely blind, paralyzed or people who can only partially serve themselves.
The history of receiving help began with the fact that I appealed to the leadership of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ukraine. The President of the Church, Roman Prodaniuk, conveyed our appeal to ADRA Ukraine. The organization responded to the center’s need and provided support in the form of ATB network vouchers.

Every month we receive 10 vouchers with a denomination of 1 000 hryvnias each. In this way, the center receives assistance in the amount of 10 000 hryvnias every month. Support began in March and is scheduled for all of 2026.
In fact, our activities are not limited to «Christian House of Mercy «Kovcheh», for which I once gave my own house. Subsequently, we built a separate home for people with disabilities, where about 30 people lived. And now we are building another such building in the Poltava region. God blesses this cause, and we see how it develops.

Today, homeless women, displaced persons and people with disabilities already live in three of our houses.
With vouchers received from ADRA Ukraine, we purchase food products — cereals, oil and other necessary goods. From these products, we then prepare food for the residents of the center.

Many of our wards have practically no one to take care of them. Among them are completely blind people, people with serious illnesses and difficult life stories. We take care of them every day, so support from ADRA Ukraine is not just a product help for us. It significantly strengthens our social service and provides an opportunity to continue supporting those who need it most.
